Making an Impact During these Challenging Times
March 10th, 2020 was the day that my world started to change:
First day that my middle school daughter’s school closed.
First day of a no visitor policy at my mom’s assisted living facility.
Events that I helped to organize for Women’s History Month and was super excited about were cancelled.
My college daughter’s university announced that it was going to be moving to online classes and that she needed to move out over the weekend.
As I was processing all of these changes in a short period of time, my thoughts turned to how I can support organizations as they began to position themselves and pivot to doing business in a non-physical contact world. Drawing from my inner project manager, I sprang into action…
I started mentoring other leaders on how to offer their services virtually. My mantra was and is that people have two primary needs right now – certainty and connection. Certainty can be provided through leadership confidence, structure, and organizing programs. Having virtual interactions over video chats and the phone are ways for people to connect.
Some leaders were apprehensive at first about the video technology. Once they saw how easy it was to set up and conduct video chats, theirs fears subsided and they realized the power in using these technology tools.
As making an impact is a core value to me, I thought about what else I could do beyond this mentorship to make a difference. Then the idea came to me…smaller businesses and non-profits are going to need a lot of support during this time to survive and hopefully thrive. Motivated by this and inspired by talk show hosts and morning show anchors doing their jobs from their homes, imperfections and all, I decided to launch a web show called R.E.S.T., which stands for Resiliency & Empowerment Seminar Today. Through this platform, I support small and mid—sized businesses and non-profits by speaking with their leaders and shining a spotlight on their organizations to raise awareness of their missions and to drive traffic to their websites. Additionally, I hope that the professional journeys and stories of resiliency shared by these executives inspire others to find positive ways to thrive during the pandemic and beyond.
I am excited to bring these conversations to you. Can’t wait to hear your feedback! If you would like to be a guest on R.E.S.T. or you know of an executive or community leader whose organization would be a good fit for this show, reach out to me directly or at hello@ganzstrategicsolutions.com.
Let’s collaborate and lead together.
Susan
P.S. I would like to give a big shout out and thank you to Keith Tucci and Louise Boschi of CIRCKA for assisting me in developing my website and social media look and feel. Their support has been invaluable and I am grateful for their mentorship!
